Hi gang:
Not so busy lately, I Just finish recording my arrangement of Marcos Valle's Summer Samba (AKA "So Nice" in this country) on the PSR2000. For those who appreciate Brazilian music, this is one of my favorites. I used the Multipad for the first time with an edited Bossa style I got from the Internet. I used Cakewalk Pro9 to record the vocals and to Mix down and edit the Midi. Let me know what you think? http://www.members.aol.com/helimaniac/sonice.mp3
Thanks for listening!
Mario

Mario, it's really SO nice! I love your voice, the arrangement, the overall quality of the sound, the style (is that the same one you used in Meditation?) and the choice of the effect.
The solo is perfectly in tune with the relaxed atmosphere of the song and after hearing this third song of yours I want for more to come!

Andrea:
What would I do without you my friend; You are being so kind with your comments. But "deep down" I really want you to take these songs "appart" and let me know where I can improve on them. The reason: I am making an album, I'd really like to "tap" into the "musical soul" of this group. You guys can be my best(or worst, if you want) critics. Please, don't be "bashful"
Regards to beautiful Rome,
Mario

Oh, by the way Andrea, I used the style I sent you. I just "infused" a little more latin percussion into it.

Mario,
I really love this song; of the three songs you have recorded this is the best one, at least to me, because it's the one that fits perfectly your voice and maybe also your musical taste; you seem really at ease with this kind of latin-american atmosphere and your voice is not strained like it was sometimes in Meditation (I was about to suggest you to transpose that song down a whole tone maybe).
Am I being too critical?

Mario,
we seem to be online at the same time and for me this is the last time for today (almost bedtime here in Rome).
Thank you again for the style; the first song I will record with this style will be dedicated to you.

Hi Mario,
I know how you feel about getting suggestions, so I’ve listened over and over. When you fit a song together as nicely as you do, any suggestion is only a matter of personal taste, not in any way a correction. “Summer Samba” has a good drive to the lyrics so I’d like to hear a nice legato counter melody with strings and woodwinds alternating in and out behind the melody. One that never comes in on the beat and enters so subtly that you hardly hear it at first. You do it one time with a flute and I’d like to hear it throughout the song. But then, what do I know?
Frank

Andrea an Frank:
Great! that's what I want. Good constructive criticism. Two heads are always better than one. I agree, Meditation I could bring down a "notch" and let the relax feeling come thru more.
Frank, you know a lot; and you know how I feel about your arrangements; that's way I will always take your suggestions very serioulsy, you can be of great help in me putting this album together. I hope you don't mind me asking you to give me some "feedback". It's greatly appreciated.
Much obliged,
Mario
